Thanjavur (தஞ்சாவூர்)

A gold-plated statue of Rajaraja Chola is kept as an orphan outside this large temple in Tanjore. It is placed in a place where no one can easily see it. The man who built such a huge wonder of Tanjore Great Temple was not allowed even a corner of the temple complex. The archeology department has refused permission to keep this idol in the temple premises for no clear reasons and the Tamils are keeping quiet about it.
Most of the archeology field is dominated by northerners, so they keep it out with the bad intention of not letting anyone know about the fame of the Raja Raja Chola Emperor, If that was made known to the outside world, the Southern civilization will be more ancient and greater then the northern India. That’s why they have taken the treasures found in Keeladi and taken them to other state and kept them lying around without asking. It is an act of destroying a culture and it is a great crime that we as Tamils do not see this. However one cannot hide the Sun rays and the recent opening of Kiladi museum is an example that truth cannot be hidden forever.
If there was unity among the Tamils, this statue would have been kept inside. It will not be a big deal for us who have got law amended for Jallikattu which took a massive coordinated protests all over Tamil Nadu as we stood up to our Cultural identity. Thus if we unite,Raja Raja Chola statue will definetely be moved inside oneday. We need to think about that.
Many of the ruined statues of the Tanjore Great Temple have come to the Maratha Palace i.e. the Tanjore Palace and are kept as exhibits. But these are not where they should be. Many places inside the Tanjore temple itself are empty. It is only fair to place these ancient artefacts there. Because the people who created it were not Marathas but Tamils.
On the walls of this Maratha palace, colorful paintings have been painted very beautifully. On the one hand, the items used in the Maratha period , weapons , household items , clothes , coins , are all displayed. Among them, the coins of Chhatrapati Shivaji period , coins of many years ago and foreign coins of British, Philippines and other countries are kept in the museum. As I have already said, all these tell the tradition of the Maratha period. Not the tradition of Tamils
Only when we are united can we change this. So far we have seen about the seventh and eighth pages. See you again on the next page.
